What are Melbourne people called?
No matter where you travel to, there is always a name for the locals, with each region of Australia having their own special term for each city and state’s residents. A Melburnian is the term for an inhabitant of Melbourne, the capital city of Victoria, Australia.
About the Melbournians
Like every city, the people of Melbourne have their own unique character. Having their own lifestyle habits, customs and interests that have been formed after years of living in this bustling city. Our outfits always have a few layers going on, with the locals having to dress for the continuously changing weather patterns that the city is famous for. But what makes our outfits unique are the trend of black clothing never going out of style, no matter what age or gender you are! Coffee is a form of religion in the city, with cafes all competing to make the best-brewed coffee around! Sport is also one of Melbourne’s big passions, with AFL in particular just as apart of a daily conversation as the weather is.
What you should see when visiting Melbourne
To see Melbourne like a local, one must go to the local high points. For the day, most hit the local cafes, lining up for their second or third coffee and grabbing a croissant or muffin while they are at it. Once it has gotten dark, the laneways of Melbourne light up with the underground or secluded bars which have made this city one of the best bar cities in Australia. Simply order a cocktail from the professional bartenders or grab a local beer brew and park your side on the trendy couches or rooftop bars and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of the city. For art lovers, the city is renowned for its creative beauty, dubbed the art centre of Australia. You don’t even need to travel into the many galleries dotted about, with the laneways covered in unique graffiti that is worth the visit.
The Outer Regions to Visit
Once you’ve experienced everything Melbourne has to offer, head out to the nearby outdoor attractions. Cruise down the Victorian coast, and see the pristine beaches, epic rainforests, and a bucket-load of charming towns. Head to Phillip Island and see the country’s wilderness, including some of the most unique creatures that call this land its home. Afterwards, you can relax for a weekend at the Yarra Valley, a paradise home to award-winning wineries, gourmet food, and fine dining experiences!
